1970 erschien »Das Museum der Zukunft. 43 Beiträge zur Diskussion über die Zukunft des Museums« mit Vorstellungen zur erwarteten und erwünschten Entwicklung dieser Institution. 50 Jahre danach ist es Zeit für eine Revision: 43 neue Beiträge internationaler Autor*innen aus der Museumspraxis verschiedener Sparten, aus Theorie, Vermittlung, Kunst und Architektur entwerfen konkrete Visionen eines Museums der Zukunft: zuversichtlich und zweifelnd, kritisch, klar positioniert und subjektiv. So entsteht eine vielstimmige Sammlung, die Trends und Themen des aktuellen kritischen Museumsdiskurses aufnimmt und zugleich Anstöße für ein couragiertes Darüberhinaus gibt.
Published in 1970, "The Museum of the Future. 43 Contributions to the Discussion about the Future of the Museum" consists of ideas about the expected and desired development of this institution. Now, 50 years later, it is time for a revision: 43 new contributions by international authors from the museum industry in various fields - from theory, education, art, and architecture - outline concrete visions for a museum of the future: confident and doubtful, critical, clearly positioned, and subjective. The result is a polyphonic collection that takes up trends and themes of the current critical museum discourse and at the same time provides impulses for a courageous beyond.
