Gerry Souter (1940--2022) was born in Buffalo, New York but grew up and spent most of his life in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a degree in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which is where he met his wife, Janet. Gerry and Janet were a great pair of authors, teaming up to write more than 50 books on American history, fine arts, and biographies.
