Higher Education has an important role in the task of rebuilding a nation as it paves the way for overall development of a nation. Keeping in view of new changes and challenge at the global level, almost all nations make efforts to introduce reforms this book focuses on the GATS implications on the Indian higher education in terms of access and quality in the changing Indian society. It also discusses the issue of access in higher education in India in the context of the entry of private universities and foreign universities into India in promoting higher education in the midst of regional disparities. GATS and issue of equity in Indian higher education as the Indian society is divided on lines of social hierarchy, economic inequalities and rural and urban settings, allowing foreign students to study in Indian universities allowing the Indian institutions to set up their offshore offices abroad and efforts are made to set up world¿s best universities, It also critically examines the recommendations made by various commissions in this direction.
