Gaia Van Ness is secretly five penguins in a trench coat pretending to be a writer. No one has proven otherwise. They have been a vibrant creative spirit their entire life. The kind of child who narrated their own dramatic exits, the kind of adult who still does. After collecting an impressive amount of life experience, mild chaos, and at least three unfinished notebooks labeled "Brilliant Idea," they finally did what the penguins demanded and wrote a book. Not their first book but absolutely their gayest.Their novel Rabbit Season is a warm, witty story about the life they dream about. It contains yearning, it contains feelings and it contains the metaphorical trench coat straining at the buttons. One day they plan to fling it open and let the penguins sprint dramatically into the sunset. Until then, they write. When they are not maintaining their very convincing "single human writer" disguise, Gaia can be found killing houseplants with confidence, creating manga, and plotting world domination in a way that feels cozy rather than threatening. Their published manga credits include The Duchess and The Moon and Assistant to the Mob. They have also self-published two children's books and written several articles, because apparently the penguins believe in range.Despite life's trials and the crushing weight of responsibility, they are genuinely happy, possibly suspiciously happy. They live on the coastline of New Hampshire with two unruly dogs and two insufferable but deeply beloved cats, all of whom remain blissfully unaware that they are technically owned by penguins.
