Zusammenfassung

Integrative Therapies in Rehabilitation - Evidence for Efficacy in Therapy, Prevention and Wellness 5th Edition presents the latest science and research evidence available along with the clinical efficacy of integrating what have now become well known complementary and alternative therapies in rehabilitation to successfully improve patient outcomes. Divided into four main sections, this new edition presents the science that supports integrative or complementary therapies followed by chapters presenting common holistic therapies that include body work, mind-body work, and energy work.

Each chapter is written by academic clinicians who are using this therapy in their practice currently. Professionals who will find this book most useful include academic and clinical faculty and students as well as physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, functional medicine practitioners, athletic trainers and physical and occupational therapists in practice. The chapters outline the approach and science behind each of the therapies, so readers are able to advise their patients and their patients' families.

Integrative Therapies in Rehabilitation, 5th Edition is a textbook for all levels of education in rehabilitation - undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, residencies, continuing education and clinical practice libraries and the go-to resource for health professionals to understand the scientific evidence and efficacy of complementary and alternative therapies for rehabilitation and improving patient outcomes.

Carol M. Davis, DPT, EdD, MS, FAPTA served as a faculty member at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami Florida and as Clinical Assistant Professor with Family and Internal Medicine from 1983 to 1985, during which time she coordinated the Fellowship in Clinical Geriatrics. She served as Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy from 1987 to 2009. She retired from her position in 2015 with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine as Professor Emerita in the Department of Physical Therapy. Additionally, she has held the positions of Clinical Staff and Clinical Instructor at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and Assistant Professor and Co-Chair ad interim of physical therapy at Sargent College of Boston University. She is an internationally recognized speaker and consultant in teaching and developing curriculum in attitudes and values, ethics, geriatrics, and complementary therapies in rehabilitation. Dr. Davis is an active guest lecturer on the structure and function of fascia and teaches the John F. Barnes myofascial release approach nationally and internationally. In 2003, she was awarded the Catherine Worthingham Fellow award for a lifetime of outstanding service to the profession by the American Physical Therapy Association.
